Captain Edward Lundquist, U.S. Navy (Retired), is a principal science writer at MCR Federal in Arlington, Virginia, supporting government and commercial clients, including the Office of Naval Research, NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation, and the Department of Defense Unmanned Control Segment Working Group.
Prior to joining MCR, Lundquist worked for Alion Science and Technology, and before that Anteon Corporation, supporting the U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Directorate.
He served for 24 years in the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer and public affairs specialist. His last tour of duty was commanding the 450 men and women of the Naval Media Center.
He has a BA in Journalism from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a master’s in journalism and public affairs from the American University in Washington, DC.
He is an accredited business communicator and award-winning communicator who served in leadership positions with the International Association of Business Communicators, including president of two chapters, district director, member of the international executive board and chairman of the international accreditation council. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Surface Navy Association and chair of the SNA public relations committee. He writes for numerous naval, maritime and defense publications around the world, including Naval Forces, Seapower, National Defense, Proceedings, Defence Global, Maritime Reporter, Sea Technology, Marine Technology Reporter, Hansa, Coast Guard Outlook, Coast Guard Forum, RUSI Defence Systems, Unmanned Systems, Naval Engineers Journal, SNA Surface SITREP, and more.
He has chaired or moderated at conferences on offshore patrol vessels, surface warships, coastal surveillance and maritime security, military logistics, and naval shipbuilding, maintenance, repair and overhaul in the U.S., Middle East, Asia, Europe and Africa.
Captain Lundquist still serves in uniform as a Boy Scout Leader.
